An obsession with window coverings that lead to pimping

Let me introduce myself. My name is Patrick and I have been a ‘chippy’ or carpenter of sorts for many years. I have worked with various companies throughout my time mostly related to home improvements including installing kitchens, grabbing flat packs and shutter companies like these where I was everything from driver to tea boy. I also helped out with plantation blinds at companies which have great reputations.

During my time as an installer I discovered a strong liking for the various ways people dressed their windows. Might sound odd to you but when you are sawing off bits of wood all day a lot of time passes for thoughts to run through your head! I saw it all of course in terms of interiors, from opulent 2 inch thick white wool carpets to chandeliers hanging in W1 60 foot entrance halls. I’ve installed lighting as well you see for various architectural lighting firms. So during all these years what stood out the most? Well I’ll show you – it was these union jack wooden shutters which was a project for windows. That was it, I was hooked. You can read more about that beauty in my projects section. Update in January 2012 – we have been asked so many times that we thought we would publish a quick project for you to install DIY inside mounted shutters yourself, read on and enjoy!

Since seeing them I started looking more closely at the blinds, shutters, curtains, net curtains, sheets, vinyls, pelmets, chords, valances and everything that people used to hand in front of their windows. I thought I could start a great new business sourcing window dressings for like minded people who wanted to pimp their windows :-)

Windows that shine

In Holland, tradition has it, that they don’t cover up their windows much. Now I haven’t been to the Netherlands for a long time, but when I did go for a weekend it wasn’t to study their window dressings and I never even noticed what is my obsession today. More sorry me and definitely more fool them. There’s nothing like waking up to a sunny day and throwing back your window coverings, whether a cheeky bright pink curtain or stark gorgeous white shutters. Having clean windows behind is of course a given. If you cannot get out to clean your windows much, then get a trusted window cleaner. You will not believe the difference it makes to your outlook being able to look out of shiny sparkling windows, even if it rains a good deal of the time like it does in our blessed country.

So anyways, you can read more about my window design services here but suffice to say for now that I carry out bespoke window covering sourcing, measuring and installing for discerning people who don’t want a load of sales people knocking at their door every 5 minutes. A kind of one stop shop to pimp your windows and get the look you want from one source.

There are so many resources I have used and studied however I’d recommend browsing home and family network for window ideas then speaking to us about what inspires you! Let us know your thoughts and any comments about our work, this website or anything of interest is always welcome!
