Using inside mount frames to install your DIY window shutters.

Choosing shutters for your home is a superior choice to blinds, curtains and shades in our opinion having worked with all three for many years. Similar to blinds, shutters can alleviate and improve your rooms by welcoming an increase of light and also a level of privacy when required – in a stylish and durable way. Beautiful open, practical closed, interior shutters have a functional design and provides you with complete flexibility.

An inside mount fixture for your choice of DIY shutter will install the shutters of your choice in your window frame. However, if your windows are of an unequal or unusual size, you may wish to choose an outside mount to install your DIY shutters as it can be a little more difficult to accomplish. You have to get the frame nice and tight (although many fitters will use caulk to cover open edges) in order for the shutters to look perfect. (read about our white shutters here to see more of what we mean) If your window frames or openings are really irregular or have quite unequal lines, then as said an outside mount could do the job easier.

Before you measure your windows, it is necessary to look for any obstructions on the window. Objects such as handles, locks or electrical boxes can obstruct the operation of your shutters. The depth of the mounting frame will help with this aspect, and many companies offer narrow or deep inside mounted recessed frames to take into account obstructions.

You will need to measure your window frame accurately before installing your shutters. This is vital – and most suppliers will recommend that you use a steel tape measure to take dimensions from the top corner to bottom corner provides an acceptable reading for the manufacture of your DIY products. If the dimensions are the same, your window is square and the install of your inside mounted frame will be nice and easy!

After measuring your window and ensuring your window is proportionate and square, you will need to make sure your window casting is deep enough to accommodate your shutters.

Choosing an inside mount to install your shutters is a practical method to ensure your shutters will fit perfectly inside your window frame. They do look super smart and once installed really need very little maintenance. Your friends will be impressed – trust me – and your neighbours will be jealous!
